Centennial Mass

On Sunday, February 5th, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., the parish will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special Mass. Archbishop Robert Carlson, Archbishop of Saint Louis, will preside at this Mass as well as current clergy and religious along with former pastors/associate pastors/priests in residence/and former religious in residence. 2 choirs, the Saint Mary Magdalen Choir and the Young Catholic Musicians, will provide music for this Mass. All are most welcome. I am thinking that with the size of this event on a local level and an Archdiocesan level, parking and seating in the Church may be at a premium. I would ask 2 things of everyone: Please be patient about parking and seating Please come prepared for a full house. Following the Mass will be a reception in the gymnasium. I know that this is also Super Bowl Sunday. I’m hoping that with the Mass and reception, all can be home by the time the game starts. Catholic Schools’ Week: Catholic Schools’ Week begins Sunday, January 29th, with a school open house and festivities continue all week; I will write more about this next weekend. The 5th grade day school and PSR communities will minister at the Family Mass on January 29th at the 9:30 a.m. Mass; thanks to Nancy Shroff and the 5th grade parents for supporting this special Mass.

St. Mary Magdalen Parish is a thriving community with a mission of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, administering the sacraments, exercising charity, and providing education.

In the Gospel of St. Luke, St. Mary Magdalen is mentioned among the women who accompanied Christ and ministered to Him (Luke 8:2-3). We at St. Mary Magdalen continue her ministry by worshipping the Lord through hymns, Mass, and prayer and ministering to others in the community.

The history of St. Mary Magdalen Parish goes back to 1912 when the first Mass was celebrated. The school opened in 1922 in a two-story, brick building. Many buildings later the Parish has celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1987. Our current Pastor, Father Jack Siefert arrived in 2010.

We invite you to journey with us and serve the world and community Christ loves so dearly.
